The Color of Dreams Blog Hop

Welcome to the Color of Dreams blog hop hosted by the incredibly generous and gracious Rita of Toltec Jewels.

The paticipants were all given a gorgeous bead handmade by artist Patricia Handschuh of The Color of Dreams Boutique and invited to share our dreams, using our bead as the inspiration.

This is my beautiful bead. The camera could not capture to perfect finish or the wonderful silky feel of it. I recommend you get one of your very own!

This is what I have been dreaming ....

My bead brings to mind the gorgeous summer scents and colours of an exotic blossom tucked behind my ear. Warm sun gently toasting skin. Squeals and barks as children and dogs romp in the waves.

Wrapping up warm in damp towels as the sun sets over the cool blue. Gathering driftwood for a fire and roasting marshmallows as we watch the flames. Raising plastic mugs of strong hot tea to toast happy times and absent friends.

Hair, wild from see breeze. Floaty cotton skirts. Anklets of shells and sea glass. Friendship bracelets in their dozens. I gather my children into my arms and lean back into the warm safety of my beautiful man's chest. Drifting off to sleep as the fire dwindles.

Time to visit other dreams. For a full list of participants look here.

In Memoriam:
Dear Lee, you were a fine friend and a true gentleman. You always stood up for your friends and never held back. Full of stories, laughter and down to earth humour. Too young to be gone. There's a little hole in my soul. My heart goes out to your beautiful wife. There must be a vast chasm in hers.
Tonight I will sit on the beach and raise my plastic mug of tea in a toast to you Lee, and to GPE and warm beer at the Prince of Wales, and to the amazing camaraderie of those years.
Cheers me dears.

  18. The use of plain macrame made the focal bead stand out but remain integral to the bracelet.
Great design and a nice remembrance of someone who left too soon.

  21. I love this light and summery, lovely bracelet! Your post is absolutely charming, as is your jewelry art! The macrame sets of the art bead with charm and whimsy. As always, you've created beautiful jewelry, Penny! I loved being taken on the journey of your dream -- a sensational, uplifting experience as moment by moment I felt nurtured and joyful too. Wonderful literary art also! And I'm touched by your "In Memoriam" -- sweet love to those who are now in the nonphysical keeps them close forever! Thank you for sharing your lovely, gentle post & lovely, gentle art. xxoo Rita
